Twas a sunny day in East York, with a hint of mugginess about. The only thing more captivating than the moisture in the air, was the show I found myself watching quite a bit of the day. Yes, spending a lot of time on electronics is not the best way to past time, but I can honestly say it was one of the better television endeavors I’ve had. Hosted by William Shatner, it’s one of those cool little creepy shows about phenomenons all around the world.
How intriguing life can be… Here I am grumbling to myself as I pick up endless amounts of dirty laundry, plagued by the faint aroma of sweat, foot cheese, and the like. My dumpster truck of a cat is lazily wondering around with me, conveniently “plopping” to get my attention. “Hey, dummy, come scratch my ass.” And while I’m going about an otherwise normal day for most part, I’m listening to stories about things such as the Moth Man, the Suicide Forest, National Park, and more. Sometimes it is so astounding that these bizarre and wild things are simply happening while I’m doing basic things like handling dirty socks.
It had me thinking of all the places I’d like to see, and of the creatures I want to know more about. Furthermore, it allowed me to take a second to genuinely appreciate the wonders of the world. To really ponder how such astonishing and mediocre things can exist at the same time. Then again, I feel humans are the prime example of such a thing. I myself am quite mediocre, and yet my body alone is some kind of ultimate creation that has had religions and sciences alike wonder in awe.
I leave you with this: take time throughout your busy day to simply…wonder. This world of ours is an intriguing and glorious place. While you’re making coffee, someone is giving birth. While a small family is making breakfast, another is being terrorized by an otherworldly being. Life is nothing if bizarre. Bask in it.
